Several (Good) Reasons Why Digitalpoint Sucks

As if you still need reasons to leave Digitalpoint …

But in case you need a bit of convincing to do so, or assurance (if you already have), here are some excellent reasons not to be part of digitalpoint.com – ever! (Continually updated, so be sure to bookmark this page and check back)

1. It’s infested with spammers and a haven for scammers. If you try and buy or sell anything on Digitalpoint chances are, sooner or later, that you will get scammed. My bet is probably sooner, rather than later!
2. At Digitalpoint there’s also a better than good possibility that you’ll mostly be dealing with weirdos, “black hat artists“, fanatics, more fanatics, kids, noobs, more kids, Asians (see #5 below for more on this), “black hatters“, girls in bikinis (actually, that one’s just for fun. ), and “preachers” (who promote internet marketing with a bible in their hand). BTW, sometimes they’re all one and the same! OK, maybe that’s your thing … then, by all means, go for it – otherwise, if you prefer dealing with like-minded, professional, adults, I suggest finding a real, relevant and serious website or forum that can cater for your needs. We have a few suggestions here.
3. Digitalpoint has no respect for any of its long-time members and supporters. There are several “old-timers” on the forums who have contributed a lot to the growth of the forum from the start, but who now either have left because of the way things are going, or have been banned for doing something “terrible”, like speaking out. The sad thing is, DP doesn’t care … so much for building a community!
4. You probably have heard about (or experienced) the Nazi moderators at DP – these are people, often very inept, who hide behind anonymity to “hand out justice” as they see fit. You’ll never exactly know who handed out an infraction or banned you, and the canned reason displayed in your profile hardly ever makes sense. There is no moderation transparency or accountability, whatsoever. Many Digitalpoint members have therefore simply stopped posting, resorted to private messaging only, or post the minimum – lest they incur the misguided wrath of a so-called moderator with a chip on his/her shoulder.
5. Digitalpoint is becoming more and more Asia-centric and less-and-less relevant for Americans and other “Westerners”. It has quite frankly been overrun by Indians, Pakistanis, Filipinos, and Indonesians, and most of its traffic/members are now from Asia. Not that I have anything against other nations/cultures – just stating the reality. And the type and subject matter of its posts and topics also reflect this Asian shift in interest. So, I think the tipping point has been reached where Americans, Canadians, West-Europeans and other “Westerners” are leaving DP in droves, to find forums that can cater for their needs.

6. The owner, Shawn Hogan (and his buddies), allegedly are crooks. They allegedly have defrauded eBay in a cookie stuffing scheme, and a civil case is pending. And a grand jury indicted Shawn Hogan on charges of alleged wire fraud and criminal forfeiture, so he’s presently being prosecuted. You can read more about this here, and we’ll also keep you posted.
7. Digital Point runs and promotes a foolish link farm under the guise of a “Co-op Advertising Network”. Geez, exactly who are they fooling! Oh, that’s right, all the weirdos, “black hat artists”, fanatics, more fanatics, kids, noobs, more kids, Asians, “black hatters”, girls in bikinis, and “preachers” I mentioned above… just NOT Google, et al.

• 100 Reasons Digital Point Sucks. Yes, I understand it’s kinda an attempt at satire, but for the most part the stated reasons are valid, including these: “99. Did I mention it’s a spammer heaven yet? / 100. A community containing that much filth isn’t worthy of all the backlinks gained from this blog post”.
• Just Another Domain Scammer from DigitalPoint: “Just a few minutes ago, somebody from the DigitalPoint forums tried to scam me of five domains with PageRank worth a few hundred dollars. Good thing I always remember my (expensive) lessons from previous scams …”
• DigitalPoint Forums: A Case Study in Nazi Forum Administration: “DigitalPoint Forums … has one of the worst business practices of the modern day, serving as a good example of what NOT to do when moderating your forum and managing your moderation staff.”
• Digital Point Forum Sucks: “So I think I have a DAM good reson to feel that Digital Point Forum Sucks and their customer support is NON existent.”
